Collected information
In the behavioral indicator submission data is clustered from Canvas regarding student submission behavior. This behavioral indicator indicates the extent to which the student was on time with the submission of assignments in a course.
⚠ Note: Only assignments with a deadline are included when collecting data regarding submission behavior.
⚠ NB: Data is collected in the week of the deadline, or in other words, the bullet will color in the week of the deadline and not necessarily in the week when the student turns in the assignment with a deadline. Therefore, if students turn in the assignment earlier than the week of the deadline, data will not be immediately available in StudyCoach.
✨ Tip: Because the data can only be collected if there were assignments for students to turn in, it is important to incorporate as many assignments with a deadline into your course as possible. We therefore offer some tips for providing Canvas course with different types of assignments to allow for optimal data collection. |
Score calculation
The score of the behavioral indicator submission is calculated as follows:
A number of points is awarded for each submission, see below.
- Submitted nothing: 0 points
- Submitted late: 1 point
- Submitted in time: 2 points
Then, based on the percentage with respect to a maximum score (total number of registrations x 2 points) a score is assigned for this indicator that is visually represented by a color of the bullet.
Negative (red) 0 points | Neutral (orange) 1 point | Positive (green) 2 points |
---|---|---|
0% - 50%* of the maximum score. | 51%* - 69%* of the maximum score. | 70%* - 100% of the maximum score. |
* The manager can adjust these values institution-wide to shift the limit at which 1 or 2 points are awarded. The above values are the default settings.
The scores are recalculated daily and are stored by week. Based on the score, the trend is calculated.
