Dear reader,

We hope you had a great summer! To kick-off the new academic year, we release the following improvements to the Bulk survey feature:

New survey type

From now on, all surveys that are added can be created as a 'Bulk Canvas assignment' or a 'Standard Canvas assignment'.  

If you want to distribute the survey using bulk, it should be added to QualtricsLTI using the 'Bulk Canvas assignment'  type. This type will make sure that the survey is compatible with the bulk feature. Additionally, it will ensure that the survey will be excluded from being added to an assignment. 

A survey created as the 'Standard Canvas assignment' will act the same as surveys in the previous release, except that it can't be used in bulk surveys. However, please do note that it is possible to have the same survey added with both types. In this way, you can distribute via bulk and have the survey used in an assignment.

Embedded data

A new step has been added to the bulk setup, allowing for embedded data to be set by uploading a .csv file.

To set this up, a new data field for the 'Bulk Canvas assignment' survey type has been added: ".csv file upload".  

Further instructions on how to set the embedded data fields for bulk will be added to the documentation in the following week. So keep an eye out for that, but feel free to play around with this option in the meantime!

Save as draft and delete a live bulk survey

Not sure if you need to push a bulk survey to more courses while setting up? Didn't set up the data fields yet? No problem! It is now possible to save the bulk survey as a draft by selecting 'Save and finish later'.

With this release, it is possible to delete an already published bulk survey. Doing so will delete all the assignments from the corresponding courses and keep the bulk survey in the history tab as 'closed'.

04.

Small fixes

• In the previous release, it was not possible to search in the term and sub-account selection. This release addresses this and allows for pagination in terms, which fixes the bug that only 10 terms were selectable.
• The order of the steps in the bulk setup survey has changed. The first step of the setup is now the survey selection.
• A new warning has been added that pops up when a user doesn't have the right permissions to create announcements and/or notifications.
