[Teacher/Admin] - Repository Goals

This knowledge base will not be updated after 27 August. You can find the new knowledge base on: knowledgebase.portflow.app

What is the goal repository?

The goal repository allows template creators to create goals that can be reused across multiple templates. Template creators can create new repository goals and migrate existing goals from templates to repository goals.

Note: Repository goals can be edited by the owner of the repository goal. These changes will be reflected in your template. If any students import your template AFTER these changes have been made, their portfolio will also reflect these changes.

Why create repository goals?

Currently, goals are separate entities in portfolios and templates. The purpose of the goal library is that goals can be reused in multiple templates, making it easier to monitor longitudinal development on goals across templates

View repository goals

Repository goals can be created and managed by any power user with template creator abilities. These can be assigned by the Portflow administrator.

To create or manage repository goals, navigate to the Templates tab (1). Next, click the tab Goal Repository (2).

This table provides an overview of all existing repository goals. (Note: If the table is empty, no repository goals have been created yet.) You can use the search bar to find goals by their short or long names.

Create and manage repository goals

To create a new repository goal, click the + New repository goal button (1).

By clicking on the name of a repository goal, you can view and/or edit the repository goal. Editing is permitted only for repository goals from departments to which you belong.

The image below illustrates an example of a repository goal:

  1. Information on the repository goal, including the long name, short name and description
  2. The sub-goals included in the repository goal.
  3. Edit button. Click on the three dots for more options to manage the repository goal.
  4. Details of the repository goal, such as tracking changes and the number of times the goal is used in templates.
  5. Add a new sub-goal to the repository goal.

Converting existing goals

If you already have one or more goals, you can convert them into repository goals. This way, you don't have to create repository goals from scratch. To do this, go to a template, find the "Goals" section, and select the option ‘Convert to repository goal’ from the action menu (accessible via the three dots)

If you have used goals in a template before repository goals were introduceren, and would like to re-use those goals in a new template, you need only convert them to repository goals in the 'old' template and import them into the 'new' template. This will allow the students to continue working on the same goal throughout the different templates.

Note: converted goals cannot be converted back.
