What is Qualtrics LTI? 

Qualtrics LTI is a tool that integrates Qualtrics surveys into Canvas. This allows students to complete Qualtrics surveys without having to leave their Canvas environment to go to a separate link or tab. The Qualtrics LTI makes it easier and more convenient for students to take surveys, which increases response rates. 

How does Qualtrics LTI work? 

The Qualtrics LTI links surveys from Qualtrics to Canvas. This process will be gone over in more detail in further help articles, but the basic steps are as follows: 

1. In your Qualtrics account, you develop and publish a survey

2. Next, head to the Qualtrics LTI and add this survey to your Canvas environment

3. Lastly, go to a course in Canvas and distribute the survey as an assignment 

4. Once students complete the survey, the results will be recorded in Canvas and Qualtrics

What does the Qualtrics LTI look like? 

In the image above, you can see that the Qualtrics LTI can be found in your Canvas environment. Once you have started connecting Qualtrics surveys to Canvas with the Qualtrics LTI, they will appear here. There are three different survey levels within the Qualtrics LTI. Pictured above is “Your Surveys.” The different survey levels (Your Surveys, Department Surveys, and Institute Surveys) are explained in more detail in the next help articles.

What does a survey look like once it is added to the Qualtrics LTI? 

From within the Qualtrics LTI, you can click into the survey to view its details, settings, data fields, and any assignments that it is linked to within Canvas. You can also click the link next to the survey name to go directly to the survey in Qualtrics. 

What does a survey look like for an instructor? 

Once the survey is added to a Canvas course assignment, the instructor will be able to see the survey details and notifications along with how many course participants have completed the survey. 

What does a survey look like for a student? 

For a student, the survey is set within Canvas, so they will not need to go to a separate webpage to take the survey. They can simply click on the assignment within their Canvas course and start taking the Qualtrics survey.
