This knowledge base will not be updated after 27 August. You can find the new knowledge base on: knowledgebase.portflow.app
In this article we will distinguish 'known users' (who have a portfolio), 'unknown users' (do not (yet) have a portfolio but do have a Canvas/Brightspace account) and 'external users' (do not have a portfolio and no Canvas/Brightspace account).
Portflow sends the following notifications to the different user types.
Known users | Unknown users | External users | |
Receives invitation to someone's portfolio. | v | v | v |
Receives feedback request | v | v | v |
Receives response to feedback in someone else's portfolio | v | v | x |
Receives progress review request | x | x | v |
Received feedback in own portfolio | v | x | x |
These notifications appear in Portflow when selecting the notification bell (for known users), and will be forwarded to the Canvas inbox (Canvas) or e-mail (Brightspace) (for known, unknown and external users). Read below how to enable these notifications.
Furthermore, in Portflow you can also view some notifications by going to "My access and requests" in the navigation at the top. A selection of notifications (feedback requests, evaluation requests and access requests) are sorted by type in this overview.
Tip: Click the icons in the notification menu to quickly mark notifications read. Click the icon at the top right to mark all notifications as read.
Canvas
By default, Canvas Notifications are set to immediately send an e-mail to the user when an Inbox message is received. This can be changed by going to Account > Notifications. Under Conversations, under Conversation Message, you can set whether or not these messages are immediately forwarded to the mail. This can also be done periodically, for example.
Note: This setting also affects the notification of regular Canvas Inbox messages. |
Brightspace
In Brightspace, you can choose to have Portflow's notifications sent to your email address. You can set this up by clicking on your profile picture of your account in Portflow and selecting "Notification Settings". Or on the same button in the notification drawer.
You can then enter an e-mail address where you wish to receive the notifications. Slide the toggle to 'on' to activate the notifications. Note: Some school have set a restriction to the e-mail address domain you are allowed to fill in.
