Merge duplicate contacts

How are duplicate contacts detected? 

It is possible to use a contact custom field as duplicate indicator in Eduframe.


Note: The email address field is a duplicate indicator by default. If contacts have the same email address they will automatically be listed in the Duplicate contacts table.


Note: A field that has always been empty will not trigger a duplicate. A field that has once been filled but has been emptied after, will trigger a duplicate with fields that are also emptied.


  • Go to Settings > Forms > Custom fields
  • Click on the edit icon next to a custom field (which is a textfield or phone number)
  • Tick the 'Use as duplicate indicator' checkbox and save the custom field


Now all contacts that have the same input in the custom field that you selected as duplicate indicator will be listed in the Duplicate contacts tab (Relations > Duplicate contacts).



Also on the contact itself, a warning will be shown that it might be a duplicate with another contact.


Note: You can also 'Dismiss' the duplicate. This will no longer show this information banner for this reported duplicate.


Note: Conflicts are managed pér conflict. Not per field/contact/value. Ignoring a conflict will not resolve other existing and future conflicts of this contact.

How to merge detected duplicate contacts? 


If a duplicate contact is detected, it shows up in the duplicate users view.


To merge contacts: 

  • Click relations > duplicate users
  • Click on the Review button (this will open a new view to merge contacts)
  • Check the information of both contacts and decide which contact information you want to save 
  • Make sure that contact is the Primary contact, if not click on the Switch button in the middle to change it
  • Click on merge 


Note: When merging a contact, all linked organisation, enrollments, orders and opportunities wil be added to the primary contact. The general contact information of the first contact will be kept.

How to manually merge contacts which are not detected as duplicate? 


How to manually merge two contacts: 

  • Go to Relations > Contacts and click on the contact you want to merge 
  • Click on the Merge contacts button (which will open a new view)
  • Choose your secondary contact by selecting the contact in the dropdown
  • Check the information of both contacts and decide which contact information you want to save
  • Make sure that contact is the Primary contact, if not click on the Switch button in the middle to change it
  • Click on merge

How to find information from the deleted contact?

Each time two contacts are merged, the information of the deleted contact can be found in the timeline of the merged contact.



How to view and merge dismissed duplicate contacts

To view dismissed duplicates, open the duplicate users tab and click 'Dismissed'. On this tab you can see all previously dismissed duplicates, and can still merge them if needed.
