Using the Thesis Element in Programs
To finish a program, participants often need to complete a final requirement as proof of the knowledge they acquired. You can capture this requirement using the Thesis element. This dedicated component allows you to record extensive project information, store digital files, and manage grading.
Adding a Thesis Element (Edition Level)
To require a thesis for all participants, you must add it at the Program Edition level.
Navigate to the Elements tab of your Program Edition.
Click the + Element button and select Thesis.
In the Add thesis modal, you can:
Provide a Name (e.g., "Final Project Thesis").
Link a course: Optionally link the thesis to a specific course template to use its functionalities.
Specify later: Use the toggle if the exact template or schedule is not yet known.
Once a participant is enrolled in the program edition, the thesis element is automatically added to their personal program overview.

Linking Courses and Grading
Supporting Courses: You can automatically enroll participants in a supporting course (e.g., a "Thesis Writing" workshop) by linking the thesis element to it.
Automated Grading: Instead of grading manually, you can specify that the thesis should inherit the same grade as a linked course enrollment.

Managing the Personal Thesis Details
On a participant's personal program page, you can open the Edit thesis panel to record a wide range of specific information:
Project Metadata: Enter the Title, Subtitle, and a detailed Abstract.
Contributors: List the Author(s) and Supervisor(s) involved.
Background Info: Record the Date, Company name, and the Language of the thesis.
Classification: Add Keywords and set the Confidentiality status.
Digital File: Upload the thesis directly using the Attachment field.
Capabilities and Restrictions
What a Thesis Element Can Do:
Store Files: Upload digital versions up to 50MB.
Accepted Formats: Supports .pdf, .doc, .docx, .odt, .odm, and .rtf.
Assessment: The thesis can be graded manually or marked as "passed".
Program Completion: If a thesis is part of a personal program, the program will not autocomplete until the thesis is completed.
What a Thesis Element Cannot Do:
Duplicate: You can only add one thesis element per program edition.
Extracurricular: It cannot be added as a standalone "extracurricular activity" on a personal program; it must be linked from the edition.
