Sharing the portfolio

Modified on Mon, 22 Jan 2024 at 03:15 PM

You can provide a coach, teacher, fellow student, or external expert access to your portfolio. After sharing (part of) the portfolio, someone could provide feedback or respond to a progress review if necessary.

When you share the portfolio, you can share with full access or only several collections. You can choose to provide access to feedback or restrict feedback visibility. Furthermore, some elements can be hidden from all visitors. The table below explains the difference between shares:

Component / Type of share
Full shareShare several collections
Hidden

Can be hidden using the eye symbol. They will then only be visible to you
Restricted feedback visibility

A portfolio can be shared with either access to everyone's feedback, or only the feedback from the portfolio owner and specific visitor

Sharing the portfolio can be done with other Canvas or Brightspace users or an external user.

Note! It is always necessary to provide access to your portfolio before asking someone for feedback.

Manage who you have shared your portfolio with

Via the homepage

By clicking 'Shared with:' on the homepage of your portfolio or the collection homepage, you can see a list of users with whom you have shared your portfolio or your collection. In this screen, you can see:

  • If this user has not yet accepted, their name will be labeled with '(pending)', (1)
  • The date on which the access will automatically be revoked, including the possibility to extend (2)
  • The possibility to revoke access (3).

When someone declines access or the access is revoked, their name will disappear from the list.

Via 'my access and requests'

It is possible to get an overview with whom you have shared your portfolio. Go to the 'My access and requests' page, specifically the 'Shared items tab. There are two headings in this tab: 'Shared with me' and 'Shared by me'.

Under the heading 'Shared by me' you will see a list of people with whom you have shared collection(s) or your entire portfolio. You can also find the start and end dates on which access is granted for this person. You can extend or revoke access using the three dots.

The lock symbol is shown for visitors who have restricted feedback visibility. This visitor will be able to see their own and your feedback and progress reviews. The house symbol is shown for external visitors (who do not have a Canvas or Brightspace account).
